Getting started

Tap Start a Match, pick your course, add your players and their handicap indexes, choose a game (Match Play, Nassau, Skins, Wolf, Vegas, Nines, Sixes, or a Custom game), and set your stakes. Score hole by hole on the live scorecard and MatchPlay tracks who's up and what it's worth. When the round ends, the payout screen shows exactly who owes who.

What is MatchPlay Pro?

MatchPlay Pro is a single one-time purchase (no subscription) that unlocks the Scorecard Scanner: snap a photo of your paper scorecard and MatchPlay reads every score for you, then takes you straight to the payout. Everything else in MatchPlay — all the game types, live scoring, handicaps, friends, and payouts — is free.

I already paid to remove ads. Do I have to pay again?

No. MatchPlay no longer has ads, and anyone who previously bought the ad-free upgrade already owns MatchPlay Pro — the scanner is unlocked for you automatically at no charge. If it doesn't show as unlocked on a new device or after reinstalling, open the scanner (or Settings) and tap Restore Purchases.

How do I restore my purchase?

On a new device, or after reinstalling, tap the scanner and choose Restore Purchases on the Pro screen. Your one-time unlock is tied to your Apple ID, so there is no charge to restore it.

How does the scanner work — and is my scorecard photo private?

The scanner sends your scorecard photo to be read for scores, then shows them to you to review before anything is saved. The photo is not stored after it's read and is never shared with other users. Full details are in our Privacy Policy. For the clearest read, lay the card flat, get the whole card in frame, and avoid heavy shadows.

The scanner misread a score

Every scan opens a review screen where you can tap any cell and fix it before continuing — cells the scanner wasn't sure about are highlighted. The OUT / IN / TOT totals add up as you edit so you can sanity-check the whole card. Nothing is settled until you confirm.

Does the app move money?

No. MatchPlay is a scorekeeping and math tool. "Pay on Venmo" simply opens the Venmo app pre-filled with the right person and amount — you review and send the payment yourself inside Venmo. MatchPlay never holds, sends, or processes funds.
